Well i did much better than last time! Instead of losing all $20, I only lost $8.50. Maybe next time I break even!

Long time, no update….

Has it already been about 4 months since my last post? Shame on me!

Time flies when you don’t have enough of it. As I type this I am listening to the Police and hearing Sting sing about “I wish I never woke up this morning. Life was easy when it was boring.”  Always something to do or somewhere to be. I guess my favorite rock star reflection on life would have to be from John Lennon’s song “Beautiful Boy” where he says “Life is what happens when you’re busy making other plans.” Google that phrase and you will see that there are many others who feel the same.

Anyway, in other news….

Haven’t really had much time to devote to politics. I’m going to wait a while before I really get into the races. I have a feeling that the upcoming election season is going to be a tiring one. I like Hilary. I like Obama. Shame that they are gonna have to tear each other apart. However, I would love to see a late entry by Gore. There is a recent Rolling Stone article that explains why he should run and why could win. It’s a good read. I haven’t heard anyone talk about this but I think it would be very interesting if Gore could convince Hilary to be his running mate. That would give her 4 to 8 years as VP. In that time she could prove to her doubters whether or not she is fit to lead the country.

How bout those Houston Rockets! Yao Ming is back and he is getting back to where he was at the beginning of the season. As we approach the playoffs, the Rockets are currently the 5th best team in the West. We are close to passing up Utah to claim the 4th seed.

Well, that’s all the time I have for now. Oh, speaking of time….. When I manage to make or find some, I plan on redesigning this site (again). I also plan on making a killer Myles page. Someone as awesome as he deserves to have much better representation on the web! I will make him a  page that treats him like the rock star that he is. That reminds me… Myles and I were on our way home the other day listening to The Beatles’ “Love” and “Revolution” came on and he did the scream at the beginning of the song at the right time and on pitch. How awesome was that! He also does a good job with the na-na-na’s on “Hey Jude”. There’s nothing better than a 3 year old Beatle fan.

Welcome to the new LonnieMinter.com

I have finally found the motivation and time to completely redesign my site. It’s been a long time coming. Funny how a new job can change one’s mindset. Getting out of my old job where I was the only web guy and getting back into a team production environment has been great.

It’s been a little over a month since I started at Webxites and I am loving it. I’ve learned a lot already. Basically I’ve had to break the mindset of developing sites like I did back in the late 90’s. I have fully embraced CSS and have come a long way in understanding how to build visual and accessible sites without relying on tables.

As with any site builder, this is a work in progress. The main thing was to be sure to have a good photo gallery. People want to see Myles. That’s completely understandable! I know we haven’t posted new pictures in a real long time. That is about to change. I have already put together galleries for years 1 and 2. I am using a nifty javascript called LighBox v2.02. It’s a very nice script that, upon clicking on the thumbnail, displays the large picture without opening a new window or going to a new page. It darkens the page and displays the picture right on top of the current page. Go take a look and see for yourself.

What else…? Well, the Rockets are off to a good start. We are having a problem holding n to large leads but hopefully that will cease being a problem once everyone hits their groove and stays healthy. We are currently 6-3. Considering that we are in the most difficult stretch of our season, this is very encouraging. Time will tell. More the Rockets later….

Politics? Well, let’s just say it was really cool seeing the people stand up and send a message to the 12 year Republican controlled congress. I’ll keep it short this time but I do have to say that it is about time for a change. It’s been a hard six years dealing with W being President. I really miss the days of Clinton, as do many. Time will tell if the Dems can make a positive difference. Hopefully the power will not go to their heads like it did for the GOP. The division in this country needs to end.

Ok, that’s it for now. I look forward to your comments about the site and anything that I may have written. Keep checking back. Things will always be changing here.
